Cheap Travel Medical Insurance For Overseas and Domestic Travels

I am travelling abroad for a few weeks. Do I need to take insurance? What should I look for and how much do I need to pay to the insurance? If I am travelling within India do I need medical insurance also?

When you travel, there is always a possibility of lost baggage, someone stealing your belongings, or unfortunately even falling ill or meeting with an accident. You could be worse affected if these things happen in a foreign country. If you do not have medical insurance you will either not be accepted for treatment in any medical facility or will have to bear usually a huge amount of money for treatment. It is always advisable to get your self insured before you travel.
Typical cost could be about Rs. 2000 for a month – this depends on your age, country of travel, duration etc.

For example the New India Assurance company offers a Overseas Mediclaim Policy. The policy covers Personal Accident, Medical expenses and Repatriation, Loss of Checked Baggage, Delay of Checked Baggage, Loss of Passport and Personal Liability.
