Jet Airways Pilot Strike Day 3: End of Standoff In Sight?
This is the 3rd day of the Jet Airway’s strike and looks like there could be some compromise reached finally. So far, 10 pilots have been sacked, over 28,000 passengers stranded, over 700 flights canceled and millions of rupees worth of business flushed down the drain.
The management seems to have agreed to reinstate the four pilots that were sacked over the last week. Based on this information, it is reported that “sick” pilots will now be reporting to work, although this could not be verified from official sources. The official announcement and agreement is expected to happen later on Friday, September 11, 2009 after a meeting between the Jet Airways management and the Pilots. The Labor Commissionser. Mr. S. K. Mukhopadhyay has convened this meeting.
The Prime Minister has inquired about the Airline Crirs in a a cabinet meeting, following which the Labor Minister convened a meeting. All hopes are on the meeting to hammer out a solution. According to the President of Aviation Guild, Girish Kaushik, the Pilots will resume duty within hours of the reinstatement of the sacked pilots. He was hopeful that the stalemate would end after the Friday talks.
Well, lets hope good sense prevails and people get on with their lives. No one likes whats happening, so why continue?
